Once you have determined the intent of the candle ritual, and have located a fresh, unused candle, you are ready to annoint and charge the candle with your intent.
Candle annointing is simply a matter of dressing it with oil. You can use an oil that compliments the intent of the candle (lavander oil for love, for example). I have even read that plain virgin olive oil can be used if nothing else is available. Place a little oil on your fingertips. Grasp the candle in the middle, and annoint the candle from the middle upwards to the top. Then annoint the candle from the middle to the bottom.
Candle charging is the act of infusing your will and energy into the candle, so that as it burns, your intent is released and will begin to manifest. You will charge the candle while you are annointing it. Visualize a radiant and pure white beam of light emanating from the Earth, entering your body through your feet, and radiating throughout your body, flowing through your hands, and into the candle. The candle is then charged with your intent, and is ready for use. |
