The First Session
Say aloud or think to yourself: "Are you here?" Relax and allow the answer to come naturally.
You should hear an affrimative answer. Note when I say "hear" a response that you will not hear an audible voice in the room, but rather a voice in your mind.
Continue to ask yes/no questions which are not personal in nature. "Is it raining here today?" "Is the lamp in this room turned on?"
Continue a line of simple questions which do not pertain to you personally. You may stop and prepare questions along the way. Spirit will not mind waiting, and is there all the time to guide you. For the first day, simply get used to hearing yes or no responses.
The Next Session
Again, ask only yes/no questions. By your second session you should be ready to ask the name of your main Spirit Guide, and ask questions of a somewhat more personal nature. Do not be tempted to get too involved in this session.
Greet you Guide.
Ask, "Are you male?" "Are you female?"
Say, "Please tell me your name."
If you have difficulty understanding the name, just come as close to what you hear as you can. Spirit will accept whatever name you give him or her.
Continue by asking more general yes/no questions.
The Next Session
By now you should feel comfortable enough with your Spirit Guide to ask him or her to introduce you to your other Guides. Be prepared to take your time in meeting and getting to know your other Guides slowly before you ask them detailed questions. You may prepare questions ahead of time to refer to during your session. Take your time, and do not rush the process of getting to know your Guides.
Greet your Guide.
Ask, "Do I have other Spirit Guides?" Wait for an affirmative response.
Ask, "Do I have more than two Guides?" Wait for a response.
Continue in this fashion until you have determined the number of Guides you have. Make a note of this. Ask, "Can you introduce them to me?"
Wait for an affirmative response, then ask "What is your name?"
Continue meeting your Spirit Guides in this fashion, asking simple yes/no questions. It is best to keep questions simple and answerable with a yes/no response until you have established relationships with your Guides and are comfortable hearing their responses.
As you continue these sessions, you can move on to ask more complex questions of your Guides. Ask each of your Guides what purpose they serve in your life. Ask them for guidance about spiritual and life path matters. You can explore whether your Guides have been with you in a previous life or lives, and what relationship they had to you in those lives.
Over time, you may find that certain Spirit Guides are no longer there when you seek them. As I said before, some Spirit Guides are with us our entire lives, others for a short time to fulfill a specific purpose. When a Guide is no longer there, you can take it as an indication that they have fulfilled their task in your lives. (This is a good thing, as you have likely made great growth and progress in one way or another.) Another Guide may soon take the place of the Guide that has left. Feel free to consult with your "regular" Guides for affirmation that this new Guide is indeed your Spirit Guide, and not simply an errant lost soul who is lonely and wants someone to talk to!
